This is a series of paintings using oil paint and cold wax medium. The medium is made from natural beeswax and turpentine; it allows for the rapid application and drying of paint layers. Heavy impasto surfaces can be quickly realised and the wax can be burnished to enhance sheen and translucency. Marks and incisions are made with a variety of implements and the process has an almost sculptural, low relief quality.
